WHEKU WHAK’ANI
Weku Whak’ani sits on the Fringe of the great Mutina’kol’e Swamp, a large inland body of water at the base of the foothills of the Central Pangian Range of mountains. The town of Wheku, or Weku, is home to the Amphi, people with characteristics of amphibians and reptiles. While no love is lost between the Winged and Wingless of Pangier, the Amphi get along with everyone, and Wheku is a neutral ground.
Whheku could be described as “Wild West” meets “New Orleans” meets the Bayou. Rather dilapidated and covered in moss due to the humidity, most of Wheku’s commerce happens along the Fringe. Houses, apartments, and other buildings are built into the swamp on stilts, with twisted boardwalks connecting everything in a labyrinth. The main methods of transportation are paddlers and dugouts. Wheku is a port, and the primary industry is fishing. Crocodiles and lightning bugs abound.
